This quilt was created from the original artwork of my son, Ken de la Durantaye.

This is the first art quilt I’ve created in our new studio!  It’s been a long time coming since my last major art quilt back in 2014, “Ken’s Cardinal”.  So much has transpired since then.  We finally had the courage to take a leap of faith toward realizing our dream.  After 20 years of living in Kansas we moved to northern Michigan.  We bought a little house that sits on an acre near Ludington in Hamlin Township just a few miles from my Lake Michigan sunsets, built a studio & are pursing the second half of our dream—a life of creative endeavors that fill our hearts to overflowing & feeds our souls in the hope of bringing a little joy into the world.

Creating an art quilt is always a journey & it’s nice to have a traveling companion who makes you smile.  And Frasier did just that.  He couldn’t help it.  It’s just his nature.

Working with my son’s art is always a soulful journey.  We live 800 miles apart, but there is a creative energy that seems to melt away the miles.  It is as if he is right there in the studio with me.  It is the common thread that intertwines our spirits.

I have one simple desire & that is to share the joy this journey has brought me in the hope that it will put a smile on your face as it did for me every time I walked into the studio.
