Here are a few excerpts from my journal.

December 8, 2008 - A new beginning to a new journey inspired by a pastel drawing created by my son, Ken, titled Auntie Rose. Unfortunately the original drawing was accidentally destroyed, however, there is a photograph.

April 21, 2011 - Today I'm finally going to embark on that new adventure I began two & a half years ago.  I can't believe so much time has past, yet Auntie Rose remained on my design wall all this time.  Now her time has come or should I say my time has come to make her larger than life.

February 12, 2012 - I hope sometime in this decade Auntie Rose will hang upon my wall as a completed project.  I have taken yet another side trip.  This one was short & oh so sweet.  My conscience was getting the best of me.  I received my invite to Beckett's third birthday party & the guilt...oh the guilt.  I made Skylee a quilt for her second birthday & Taven got his upon his birth.  What kind of grandma would I be if I let any more time pass without making my third grandchild his quilt?  I am happy to say Beckett will get his quilt next Sunday.  I hope he likes it!

May 6, 2012 - Yep, it's Sunday once again & guess where I'm my studio with Auntie Rose. This seems to be becoming a habit.  One I must say is quite enjoyable.

January 18, 2013 - This journey has been a long arduous one filled with anxiety, pain & frustration much like the last four years of my life.  Auntie Rose & I set out on a path together in December 2008, parting ways at times then coming back together, all the while wondering the reason we set out in the first place.  But today, about three quarters of the way through our adventure, I realized what it's all about...healing & new beginnings.  The dark clouds of many storms that have drenched my soul are beginning to lift & I see blue skies on the horizon.  Rain brought by ominous clouds is essential for a bud to bloom.  As I gaze at the blocks upon my design wall I see a beautiful bloom bursting forth.  That bud upon the wall is my life about to burst forth in ways I can't imagine & my soul...well, it can barely contain itself!

February 9, 2013 - We have come to the end of our journey together. Guess you could say we've had an on again, off again relationship for the past 38 months. Though we only spent 207 hours together physically, Auntie Rose was always in my thoughts. We experienced many ups & downs, often more downs that ups, but together we reached the other side with the greatest guide one could have.  Here's to you Auntie Rose, the time spent together & our constant companion for whom this journey would have been impossible.  LORD, I hope our journey has brought You much glory.
